Adapting to life in the Philippines has been a bit of a challenge due to the pace of life being that of a snail in comparison to what I am used to. Even getting your hands on powertools for jobs around the house is a major event instead of a quick online sale and awaiting delivery you have to scour stores to see if they actually own the tools you want. A Makita dealer nearby I popped into for stock as I wanted to replace my drill to find they didn't stock any Makita equipment and couldn't repair either yet the 15 x 6 ft sign outside said otherwise!
One thing I have learned though is to take time on everything if you want to get it done today you better hope you have all the equipment and materials as well as able to do it yourself. Relying on others often means things take 3 x longer and if its not that even getting paints can be a troublesome game if the colour goes out of stock. It took 2 months to get 1 tin of paint to finish the exterior of one building. But due to many companies just buying the stock nobody else wants the response was come back Wednesday which is their delivery days which made sense except they didn't say which Wednesday as they simply didn't know when they next get paint..
Patience of a saint becomes normal every day life here but the balance is not getting like many others here where they simply give up on most things and it all becomes about doing it tomorrow.
